NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ExecOnline, the pioneer of online leadership development for enterprises, announced today that Global Silicon Valley (GSV), a global community and investment platform focused on elevating the scope and scale of innovation in the education and workforce sector, has named ExecOnline Co-Founder and CEO Stephen Bailey as a recipient of its 2021 Innovators of Color Award.

The annual award from GSV honors leading global contributors who are making a true impact in the learning and talent world. Stephen will be celebrated at the annual Arizona State University (ASU) +GSV Summit in San Diego, August 9 - 11, 2021. The Summit, a collaboration between ASU and GSV, connects leading minds focused on transforming society and business around learning and work.

"This is an incredible professional and personal honor," said Bailey. "It is humbling to be recognized by your peers, and I am proud to share this with my co-founders, investors, business school partners, and our amazing team at ExecOnline. We founded this company with the belief that we can change the world by connecting all leaders to their future potential, and this honor reinforces the importance of our mission. I am extremely grateful to be in the company of so many global thought leaders who came before me."

Bailey joins an esteemed list of honorees across education and technology, including the other 2021 honoree, New Profit Co-CEO Tulaine Montgomery. Previous year's honorees include K12 Chairman Nate Davis, Big Picture Learning Executive Director Carlos Moreno, LEAP Innovations CEO Phyllis Lockett and former DC Public Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson.

In addition to Stephen's award, ExecOnline has been named to the GSV EdTech 150, which recognizes the world's leading, most transformational education technology companies. ExecOnline was chosen from among 2,000 venture capital and private equity-backed private companies and evaluated on factors such as revenue scale, revenue growth, active learner reach, international reach and margin profile. GSV estimates that the 150 companies on its EdTech list together reach approximately 3 billion people -- close to half of the global population -- and generate approximately $20 billion in revenue.

The ASU+GSV Summit will also recognize the 2021 GSV EdTech 150 list.

"Congratulations to Stephen Bailey for being recognized as our Innovator of Color, and to ExecOnline for being selected for the GSV EdTech 150. When we launched the EdTech 50 last year, none of us knew the impact that a global pandemic would bring to education," said GSV Managing Partner Deborah Quazzo. "COVID-19 brought 1.6 billion learners online overnight, ushering in the dawn of digital learning, and those we recognize today certainly met the moment. ExecOnline has responded to unprecedented demand and growth with what GSV calls Weapons of Mass Instruction -- and we look forward to seeing what they do next."
